New Role For Supplements

With so much talk about our immune systems, allergic reactions and inflammatory diseases is there something you can do to ease certain health related conditions? Natural Cox 2 inhibitors such as Inflameric, Omega 3 fish oil products, and the natural mineral silica may be great benefit.

Beautiful Hair, Skin and Nails
Ever heard of Silica? No mater how old we are we all need to supplement with Silica. However, as we age the amount of Silica in our bodies drops off immensely. Read the list below of all the wonderful things that supplementing with silica can provide us.
Benefits of Silica
Silica beautifies hair with luster, elasticity and vigor. Silica adds more elasticity to the skin and aids in nail growth and thickness. Silica can diminish the effects of coronary disease by strengthening blood vessels. Silica aids in the repair and maintenance of lung tissues and helps guard them from pollution. Silica decreases inflammation due to its effects on the lymphatic system.
Silica assists in the prevention of kidney stones and assists in healing urinary tract infections. It is a natural diuretic, which can encourage excretion by 30%. Supplementing with Silica in the intestines will diminish inflammation of the intestinal tract.
Supplementing with Silica can help heal the stomach and intestinal catarrh and prevent ulcers. Silica can clear up diarrhea and its opposite, constipation. Silica can assist in normalizing hemorrhoidal tissues, thus lessening lower back pain.
Silica has been used for treatment of inflammation of the middle ear. Silica may help circulation and regulate high blood pressure. Silica can assist diabetes by encouraging synthesis of elastase (an enzyme) inhibitor produced by the pancreas.
Silica improves mobility by helping to replenish the elasticity of the joints. Silica may lessen the pain of osteoarthritis and rheumatism. Silica may stimulate cell metabolism and division. Silica delays the aging process.

Immune System
Diet, and a supplementation program, rich in Omega 3 fatty acids can significantly strengthen an Immune system.
Studies reveal that in western diets, the ratio of Omega 6 to Omega-3s is about 20-30:1, far in excess of the recommended ratio of 1-2:1. As a result, the body"s immune system is weakened, prone to a potentially harmful, inflammatory state that puts the body at risk for illness.
Many of the positive health benefits from Omega-3 supplements, especially for joint function and pain relief, are thought to result from the anti-inflammatory properties of Omega-3s and their lubricating effect on the immune system.
Omega-3 fatty acids can help ease morning stiffness and tenderness in joints. Clinical studies of Omega-3 supplements in patients with rheumatoid arthritis have demonstrated reduction of arthritic symptoms, including pain, number of tender joints and morning stiffness.
Also, studies conducted in this population have shown that taking Omega-3 supplements led to decreased use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and corticosteroids, with effects peaking over 6-8 months.
A very promising, recent study published in Surgical Neurology investigated Omega-3 supplementation (with EPA and DHA) for non-surgical neck and back pain. The results were striking - a majority reported improvement in their pain symptoms and 4 in 5 patients were satisfied with their improvement.
Omega 3 fatty acids are known to help prevent heart disease and they can improve the condition of some patients with depression and bipolar disorder. Omega 3 fatty acid called Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) makes the membrane that holds these channels more elastic, making it easier for ion channels to change shape.
Omega 3s can improve brain function at the very simplest level, by improving blood flow. The Omega 3 fatty acid also contains Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). It may play an equally crucial role in brain function. EPA is found only at very low levels in the cell membranes; it seems to have a functional, rather than a structural role.
EPA helps the body manufacture important, hormone-like substances called eicosanoids. Some of these substances help improve blood flow around the body. They also seem to have controlling effects on hormones and the immune system, both of which are known to affect brain function.
Western diets contain very little Omega 3 fatty acid. Hydrogenation, the process used to give foods a long shelf life, removes them. But certain people may break down Omega 3 fatty acids faster than others.

Inflammation
Inflameric - A Closer Look
Natural Cox-2 Enzyme Inhibitor Inflameric is an exciting new formulation designed for its use as an effective natural Cox-2 inhibitor and inflammation reducer. Recent research suggests that inhibiting an enzyme known as Cox-2 may be an effective way to reduce inflammation.
Inflameric contains oleo-resin from boswellia serrata, which contains beta-boswellic acids. These compounds have been extensively studied for their anti-inflammatory properties. In Auurvedic Medicine, a combination of boswellia serrata and curcumin (tumeric) are often used in a formulation for their synergistic effects. Curcumin is widely used for its anti-inflammatory and anti-septic properties as well.
Boswellia is a medicinal herb; it seems to function as both an analgesic and an anti-inflammatory. The Boswellia herb may be used in connection with joint mobility, pain, and stiffness, and may be a useful remedy for a variety of inflammatory diseases, including bursitis, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis.
