Nutrition Needed For Teens

Is your teenager moody? Silly question, but many teenagers do not treat this malady.
Supplements for teens may include, mood balancers, bone strengtheners, and reproductive health vitamins.
Read on to find out what vitamins are suggested to keep teenagers and tweens healthy.

Strong and Healthy Bones

As much as teens do not like to hear it, they still have a lot of growing up to do, literally. This is the reason why it is so important for teens to take a high quality calcium supplement as part of their daily diet.
Is milk the teens drink of choice? Not any more, teens drink less than 30% of dairy products today compared with carbonated beverages that top their list by a whopping 68% today.
Calcium should be included each day in their diets to insure healthy, strong bone development.
In addition, Vitamin D should be included as an important part of bone density development. Calcium, Vitamin D and Magnesium all are included in most good quality calcium supplements.

Staying Sharp in Classes

Parents should be aware of the various 'brain foods' available in supplement form. They include Omega 3's. There are a lot to choose from nowadays; Omega 3, Omega 3 6 9, Krill oil, Salmon oil and Cod Liver Oil, just to name a few.
Iron deficiency may cause sluggishness and sleepiness. A good multiple vitamin with iron will help alleviate the tiredness involved with staying effective in a classroom.
Vitamin C helps with iron absorption and will help ward off infections associated with the classroom and the germs that lurk within.

Reproductive Health

Vitamin B Complex is a good way to get back the iron and help with hormonal changes that all teenage girls experience.
Boys seem to suffer more from acne than do the girls; zinc supplement can help the skin stay healthy. Zinc is found in multiple vitamins.
Zinc also helps the immune system and male sex glands. We as a nation are 'over coppered and under zinced.'

Mood Support

Mood swings can be affected by poor nutrition. Eating junk food, skipping breakfast, drinking copious amounts of colas or caffeinated energy drinks all affect our moods.
A good multiple vitamin with minerals can help with mood swings.
Also, very important to coping with mood swings, is to lower ones amount of carbohydrate intake.
This includes, starches, like rice, potatoes, breads, not just the sugary foods.

Encouraging Teens to Take Supplements

Combining products can help teens to take their vitamins. It appears that very few teens will take a handful of supplements like an adult will.
Therefore, a good multiple vitamin, extra Vitamin C, extra calcium, and a B Complex vitamin will certainly put the teen and tween on the road to a healthy and productive life.
Challenge the teenager with a 30-day regimen. They will notice more energy, nicer skin and healthier hair, so they will be encouraged to keep up the healthy nutritional path of supplementation.
