In preparing for
the summer season, if you have not done a "spring cleaning" then your
summer will not be the any different than the last. One needs to clean
their internal thoughts and mind before they can effectively change
anything in the outside world. Therefore, this is a "spring cleaning" done a
little late.
1. The mind must be clear of resentments. Are you
speaking to all your relatives or friends? Just making a call or writing an
e-mail is all that is needed to break the ice. Whatever has
occurred days, months, or years ago, is ancient history. If you
were wrong about an issue, admit and move on. If on the
other hand, the other person was at fault, which is ok, still make the first move. If you let anything bother
you, then it takes away from your efficiency as a thinker and doer.
2. Find
a new landscaper; ask neighbors if they know one who does a good job
for a fair price. Have them dig out old and dying trees and
shrubs that have died over the winter. Buy some new clippers, perhaps some
electronic hedge trimmers. Access the outside of your house; does
the trim need painting? Are the rain gutters free of debris and leaves?
Either do it yourself, hire a professional, or ask friends to help.
Get some large garbage bags out. Put all clothes in them you have not worn
for a while. Part with favorites, you will survive. Call a
charity to pick them up, or drop them off your self at a donation
center or receptacle.
Are you happy with your weight? Try replacing a meal with protein mix,
try this for two weeks, see if you lose weight and feel better.
If you cannot drink milk, mix the protein powder with soymilk or a
non-dairy, lactose-free milk product. Try taking some new
vitamins or herbs. Start out by trying a new multi-vitamin first.
Then add other vitamins or herbs as you research the ones that would
be best for your health conditions.
1. Each
morning ask the God of your understanding what you can do to make the
world a better place. Thank Him for all you have - Ask only for
His will.
Find a
quiet place that you can visit, once or twice a week, without being
interrupted. Walk and
talk with God (your choice) there. It may be a park, a church or a
garden. Do this each week. Just ask for peace and
understanding.
3. Lie on the
bed, put on some soothing music and just think of nothing. Do
this for 15 minutes every day.
1. Being of
service to others means many things. It can be just simple
things like calling someone and asking them out to lunch or dinner and
a movie. Or do you know someone who has had surgery lately or will be
having it? Make them a dinner and bring it over to their home,
do not stay long, just drop the food off. Tell them you
will not be coming in their home beforehand, so they will not have to
pick up or clean while trying to recuperate.
2. If you do not
take care of yourself by taking vitamins, seeing a doctor, getting
rest, and praying each day - how can you help another? Make sure
all your personal needs are met before you try to help someone else;
set examples.
3. This
concept of helping others may be difficult for some: Mind your own
business! Often we try to help loved ones too much. We
give advice, we cook, we clean, and we give money. At this point,
you might ask yourself "What is my motive"? Do I want to make the
person I love like me? Do I want to control their lives? Being
able to love him or her without controlling them with money or services
is often difficult. Letting people be themselves and asking for
help, when needed, is the right of every person.
As with any vitamin or supplement, please consult your doctor before taking. Author Beverly Terhune speaks from 35 years of living with Rheumatoid Arthritis and shares her experience, strength & hope on how to lead a healthy, substance-free life.
